Back to the mother and other root works.
Within a piglet of a school, that was birthed from a sweet Gwendolyn, Naomi has begun to craft what is her word, her stand points, and personal pain, as well as the historical not collected. Creating art in the forms of permanent body beautification, sculpture, oil, acrylic, gouache, charcoal, pencil and animation, Naomi is. Her hope is that the art shall entice healing, remind someone where we have been, or start a conversation of a new view point. Loving all that is, she is currently pursuing her 4 year diploma in visual arts at the Victoria College of the Arts, This school is on Bank street, by Oak Bay junction.
Having a passion for social change Naomi works and volunteers with first Nations youth in foster care with Surrounded By Cedar, facilitates a youth group for LGBTTQ youth with South Island Pride and also performs as Tom HaAt, a rather campy drag king, with the Dragbots. She is also organizing performers for Harder They Come a drag/burlesque show fundraising for VicFAN. www.wildcoast.ca.
Today’s body of work is all in a down played medium- that of drawing on paper. With a historical/personal mixed media sculpture hosting Naomi’s view on the world now and the hopefully direction we are going. Overall the show is a representation of Naomi's pluralistic views.
